There are many different supplements for endometriosis that you can choose to take, but it’s always best to double check everything with your doctor. Remember that supplements for endometriosis are not usually medically acclaimed and may or may not help depending on you as an individual and your condition(s). Saying that, I have personally had success with certain supplements while suffering from stage 4 endometriosis.
My top Supplements for Endometriosis
I do take supplements for endometriosis but I have checked these with my GP and after suffering for over 20 years I have finally figured out what suits me! My absolutely essential is Vitamin D. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well as endometriosis and I find that the sunshine really helps me and lessens my pain. Vitamin D is a massive help to me especially in the winter months! In the past I have also tried various multi Vitamins and Iron supplements.
Vitamin D
My GP tells me that everyone in the UK has a Vitamin D deficiency because of where we are located geographically! Vitamin D deficiency can be more prevalent in people with endo, so get yours checked. My 1000iu Vitamin D a day really helps with my muscle pain and also lessons my depression in the winter months (sometimes in Winter I double up!)
Multi Vitamin
An all round multi vitamin will be good for overall health. Some people prefer drinks for this – I really like Berocca. Also, Well Woman multi-vitamins are a good option.
Iron Supplements
Iron supplements can help with Anemia, which many endo sufferers also seem to have. Iron supplements contribute to the normal function of red blood cells and haemoglobin. I need to warn you that taking iron supplements may ‘bung you up’ a little and make you have black or very dark poop! This is not always pleasant especially for sufferers of bowel endometriosis!
CoEnzyme Q10
CoEnzyme Q10 is one of the popular supplements that are recommended by doctors for when you are trying to conceive. They are said to improve egg quality, although it is debatable whether or not this is really possible. It’s also said to have benefits for the heart and for some people improves the symptoms of migraines.
